This is a review of the entire first season.
After watching two seasons of 'Rome', I wanted to continue watching the exploits of the Roman Empire and I ran across this series. The special effects are great but some of the content is gruesome and hard to watch. The Romans played a dangerous game, they purchased then groomed male slaves to fight for profit and fame. Spartacus fights his way through the ranks to become the best Gladiator of all time.
He and his wife are torn apart and thrust into slavery and on some level he accepts his fate. What fuels him and pushes him to win are his dreams of reuniting with his wife but when he learns the treachery behind his wife's death, he forms an uprising with the other slaves.
The fighting scenes are well done but very bloody and there is nudity and sexual exploits galore, this one is rated for mature audiences only!
