This is a 4 star movie for anyone who has never seen Mr. Bean before. As someone who has the box set and had watched Bean on PBS for many years, this movie just didn't cut it for me. It is basically a reworking of all the very best bits of Rowan from the Bean series with a movie plot around them tying them together. So while there is a new idea or two, for the most part the long term fan has seen all these gags before. I would pick up the Whole Box of Beans to get a true taste of the genius of Rowan Atkinson.

Very funny episode with some really beautiful cars.

The boys go to Romania in search of the best driving road in the world. James drives a Lambo two seater (Dr. Slow), Richard drives a Ferrari, and Jeremy drives a four seat Aston Martin - they're all convertibles. They segment starts with them sitting at a road side location and the challenge is to meet up in the mountains for this incredible road. Along the way they stop at a few places. On the road James sees a Dacia and goes crazy over the car (this is sort of like a Mazda 3 manufactured in Romania).

The Romanian segment takes a pause and they do the news. They poke fun at the new McLaren super car, a Porsche Boxster super light weight, and there is a ridiculously funny bit with Jeremy and a cardboard toilet. James answers a letter from "some bankers" that are looking for really fast discreet getaway cars. He and The Stig test drive a super luxurious BMW 7 series and a Mercedes AMG 65 ultra luxury. The Stig shows up in a suit.

The star in a reasonably priced car is Eric Bana, the Australian actor from Star Trek the movie, Blackhawk Down, and Troy. He is really great and amazingly a race car driver.

The episode ends with the remainder of the Romanian trip. Make sure you watch until the end, the road they find is something very special.

There are some very funny moments in this episode. I enjoyed it a lot.

This is my absolute favorite show ever. I really enjoy the Tweto family, glimpses of behind the scenes at the company, the breathtaking scenery, and learning new things about Alaska. As a kid my favorite show was Little House on the Prairie and as an adult my favorite show is Flying Wild Alaska. I hope there are many more seasons to come.

It's a shame that this series didn't get picked up for more seasons; this really is exceptionally good work for a TV series. In many ways it seems superior to the Terminator movies, in spite of what was no doubt a much smaller budget.

The major characters were all well cast. Sarah and John are believable characters for people in such extreme circumstances. Lena Headey's role as a soft-spoken Sarah Connor was, for me, a big improvement over the strident Sarah in the T2 movie, a more complex character struggling with how to translate her love for her son into the discipline needed to keep him alive and to ready him for the impossible role he is to play in the salvation of humankind. And Thomas Dekker does a great job as a brooding young John Connor as he struggles with his mother and comes to grips with the reality of his destiny and the depth of his sacrifice.

You can think of the TV series as being like T2 but with half the action and ten times the character development. The series is about human courage, flaws, suffering, relationship, and what makes us different from machines -- all delivered in a Sci-Fi action envelope.

Summer Glau did a great job as a Terminator; she is beautiful while still having a slightly unusual face -- large eyes and a big forehead. When she holds perfectly still, tilts her head to the side slightly, opens her big eyes wide but keeps the rest of her face expressionless, she invokes the "uncanny valley" effect (look it up on Wikipedia) that makes her seem slightly creepy. I feel sorry for her having to do more mundane "beautiful young woman" roles since; the Terminator role was perfect for her, and she did it justice. And even her role as a cyborg was used to explore what it means to be human, with Glau appearing at times vaguely compassionate, but then suddenly turning brutally inhuman.

Most of the other roles are interesting and well cast, too. The fellow who played Cromartie / John Henry did a wonderfully creepy job. For some reason I didn't really like the role of Riley Dawson that much, though -- the one weak spot for me personally. I think that role was intended to help us understand what this all meant for John Connor, but it rubbed me the wrong way somehow.

The special effects are reasonably generous (but of course modest compared to the T movies), and there is a good deal of action. Episode 1 of Season 2 is particularly awesome -- true edge-of-your-seat entertainment.

The cancellation of this show was a shock to many people; kind of makes you wonder. I think part of the problem may be that this show is a bit dark -- more like Stargate Universe and the new Battlestar Galactica than, say, Stargate and Stargate Atlantis. Sci-Fi doesn't appeal to everyone, and even less so when it's the dark variety. Add to that what were probably relatively expensive production costs, and it didn't make it.

Too bad! This was really good work. My hat is off to everyone involved.

This movie is an excellent time-capsule for the end of the late '50's/early'60's rock n' roll era. (It came out in 1963, just a few months before the Beatles hit our shores & changed everything forever.)

It's got everything:

An Elvis-like rock n' roll sex-machine on a motorcycle, check!

Cold War political satire, check!

A spoof of middle-class American values, check!

Young, gorgeous Ann-Marget, check & check again!

I was born too late to experience this time period & I haven't actually seen the Broadway original from 1960 with Chita Rivera in the Janet Leigh role. But this movie is a fast-paced, witty musical-comedy. I know the 1995 version sticks closer to the original story, but I think that version plays too much into the whole "nostalgia"-thing....an element that was NOT a part of any show actually made back then. That version was also slow & not very funny.

This version is great! A lot has been said about the music, but the comedy hasn't got much attention. The humor manages to be suggestive without being vulgar. It's kind of like reading an old issue of MAD Magazine, but this is acted out!

If you want laughs every second, great songs & great dancing, as well as a humorous glimpse as to what American attitudes were like back then, then this 1963 version is for you!

It's "Honestly Sincere!"

I've always had an interest in reincarnation and was hoping for a nice story. Well, I really couldn't tell exactly what the story was as I couldn't hear most of the dialogue. The scenes by the ocean were mostly inaudible. Then there was the barking dog in the apartment scenes. I couldn't tell if the acting was any good as I couldn't hear them. It was a complete waste of money and I'll just chalk it up to a learning experience. It doesn't even deserve one star.

### ABOUT THE 4 FILM FAVORITES SERIES ###

Warner Brothers/New Line's "4 Film Favorites" is a line of two-disc sets consisting of four films that are part of a series/franchise or center around a common theme. Each disc is dual-sided, with the contents of each side being a bit-for-bit copy (a "disc image") of a previous DVD release. Usually the very first DVD release of a film is used as the master for each side, which could be either single-layer or dual-layer. If the DVD master that is used first came out at the infancy of DVD production (the late 1990s), there may be little to no extras, and even a poor film transfer when compared to a later re-release. Also, if that original release was a two-disc set, or a dual-sided disc (see: Lethal Weapon 4), only Disc 1 or Side A will be used. The "4 Film Favorites" line is priced with the budget-conscience consumer in mind, with Target having the lowest price at 9.99 each (occasionally on sale for 8.99). Other stores will inevitably be priced higher, though I don't recommend paying more than ten dollars for each two-disc set.
