Most people are not too keen watching old people (seniors) having sex; if you can get past that, then you can relate to an emotional film about seniors in a sexual affair, and the consequences of the disturbing effects of a love affair. As in many foreign film, there is full frontal nudity, (male and female) and probably the most sexual scenes in a film portrayed by the aging. Surprisingly we have a rare peek into the sexual aspect of an affair of the aging.

Inge is a seamstress in her mid 60s and has been married to Werner for 30 years; he has helped raise her children to adults. When she repairs 76 year-old Karl's clothes, a tender relationship begins, a sexual relationship. She is torn between a man who committed his life to her, loved her, her children, and for the man who she gets butterflies in her stomach. When she is with her new lover Karl, she has guilt on her face; when she is with her husband, Werner, she has emotional and sexual feelings for Karl. It is like torn between the past and the future, the old and the new.

There is no soundtrack in the film, and the only music one hears is from the interspersed clips of Inge at her senior ladies' choir. The ranges of emotion are plenty here, and with minimal dialogue it is easy to interpret. It is all in the acting, the expressions, the feelings of love, lust, and the guilt that goes along with an affair.

Inge continues the affair and shares the shocking information to her daughter. From then on, lives of those involved change. What would one do in a situation like this, how do you expect your partner of 30 years to react, and is this a fling, or will it continue as long as it can? We are left without a few clues, but it is all in the face, the movements determine the storyline. Excellent moving performance by Ursula Werner who plays Inge.

Director Andreas Dresen, director and writer has done many films in his career, including Whiskey with Vodka and Summer in Berlin ..............Rizzo

This review is directed primarily to the under 30's who are still trying to figure out the boomer generation. As one savvy reviewer here surmised, this film goes a long way into explaining the psychological behavior of boomers who actually were instructed by well-meaning nuns (in my case)or other elementary and high school teachers to practice ducking beneath their desks in the event of a nuclear strike. As the wit, Dave Barry, points out, the stucture of wood and minimal steel was no doubt designed as a carefully-constructed safeguard against nuclear annihilation by the brain trust that was guiding the civil defense system of the era. Other such gross anomalies are addressed in this film.

In this case, the idea of looking back provides some comic relief, but I for one, can tell you, that when the sirens were going off every other day back in 1962-63, we didn't regard it as all that funny. Read the Amazon reviewer's take above, then invest some money in purchasing this film. It is a great document that depicts a serious subject in a lighthearted manner, yet the underlying message is timeless. It should come shipped with the caveat: "Lest we forget."

"Gone With the Window" is the witty season opener of RuPaul's Drag Race. Despite the drubbing it received from the critics as a cheaply done, tacky reality show, and it's a great deal more fun than the latest "Bachelor" or "Survivor." There's plenty of cattiness and fabulousness. The ladies have to make dresses... out of window dressings. Good, tacky fun! And they have to lip synch for their lives!

Kathy Griffin also appears as a guest judge. Great fun!

This is a charming film with good performances. It reads like a precursor to Aaron Sorkin's "West Wing," except Martin Sheen is the best friend in this one. Michael Douglas is president.

HOWEVER, the DVD transfer on this disc is fairly notorious on DVD review sites as being one of the worst ever created. You would be doing yourself a disservice by buying this disc. Get the VHS tape or wait for a new edition on DVD.

I just saw this film today (after missing out on a sold out sneak preview last weekend) and the increased level of expectation was met with one of the most rewarding moviegoing experiences I've had in the last five years. Monster House gives us one doozy of a spooky antagonist, a decrepit domicile of living malice that gobbles errant toys and passerby with equal ingenuity and viciousness.

The house is plain old MEAN, and for really small children perhaps a little too scary to take in a gigantic room filled with strangers and darkness. But for those of us who are too grown up for a nighlight this is perfect, creepy entertainment.

The same motion capture technology used to create The Polar Express (a film which I have still yet to see) is a very interesting and appropriate choice for this film, where the only truly fantastic element is the demented house that will not suffer trespassers. It works so well because the eerie realism that depicts the characters is so starkly contrasted with the insanity that ultimately drives the Monster House to be, well, so monstrous.

Now I fully expected to be entertained by the antics of the house, but I didn't expect there to be much of a story. Again I was pleasantly surprised by what I think is a script that I believe is just as worthy of an Oscar nomination as the script for The Incredibles was. There is, beneath the floorboards of this film, more heart than horror. A tale of love, retribution, acceptance, forgiveness, and ultimately letting go.

Monster House is, beyond a doubt, one of the coolest Horror movies for kids ever made. A Halloween tradition in the making that dares to answer that age old question: Can a house be haunted?

The answer is a resounding yes with a disquieting post script.

Whatever is haunted may also be hungry!

Patrick Bergin is a dynamic Robin Hood, hitting the mark with the perfect mix of arrogance, compassion, charm and devil-may-care, hell-bent glory-seeking. Sure, there's a list of noble reasons why Robin Hood takes to the forest to fight Norman oppression and protect the unfortunate Saxon serfs from tyranny. But let's face it, Robin is a hero who enjoys what he does. He loves nothing more than laughing at danger and tweaking the nose of authority. It's easy to see that Bergin enjoyed the part, and his pleasure translates to the screen, making it an enjoyable romp for viewers.

Bergin shares Sherwood with a fine cast. Uma Thurman is a surprisingly strong Marian. Owen Teale is an excellent, fun-loving Will Scarlett, and David Morrissey is the best Little John I've seen yet. Jeff Nuttall is also a picture-perfect Friar Tuck. On the Norman side, Jurgen Prochnow is the malicious knight, Sir Miles Folcanet, who pursues Robin through the forest, and Jeroen Krabbe is Baron Daguerre, a greedy lord with a conscience. There's a brief, but impressive, appearance of Edward Fox as the would-be King John.

The movie boasts excellent swordplay, good costuming, authentic-sounding accents ... and some great pagan symbolism.

This film also has immense respect for the history behind the legend. While we may not know much about the real Robin Hood -- if there even was one -- we do know a lot about the time period in question, and Irvin keeps his cameras focused on the truth of feudal Britain. This is a Robin Hood I can believe in without reservation.
